Interdisciplinary Humanities

During the late Modernist and Postmodernist periods, the arts and letters have addressed the concepts of human freedom, equality, and responsibility in various ways. Discuss how Sartre’s Existentialism (Fiero 425-427), King’s Letter from Birmingham Jail (Fiero 451-453), and Neshat’s Rebellious Silence (Fiero 513) address questions of freedom. Do they share common themes and concerns about how freedom can be more completely realized in a changing world? How do their ideas about freedom differ? How do these ideas reflect the concept of the Postmodern?
